Come and join us for this One Day Course where you will learn how to build an inexpensive, wooden framed geodesic dome that can be used as a greenhouse, store or utility space.
Geodesic structures are very strong and wind resistant and make very economical use of materials. Although we will look at different types, the one we will build is a very sturdy, mini version of those seen at the Eden Project.
Construction of frames.
Construction of simple base.
Plans and support.
The example we will be building is a 4.5m modular unit which can be single or part of an interconnected array, adding to as needed. (As seen in the picture)
This is a hands on workshop - with a little theory.
Our aim is that you should leave with the knowledge and confidence to build one yourself.
A little basic woodworking/ DIY knowledge would be an advantage. Unfortunately, this workshop is not suitable for children.
Grant Pirnie - Engineer and woodworker.
Grant has a background in engineering and runs his own woodwork business - when he's not running training workshops.
